About
Carolus Linnaeus, the 18th century physician, popularized the use of binomial nomenclature as a technique for labeling all living creatures. In an effort to set humans apart from other animals, Linnaeus suggested the name Homo Sapien – or “wise human” – to emphasize that singular quality found in unique abundance among our species. Saperea humbly derives from the same Latin root Sapere to evoke the principles of wisdom and, in this context, humanity for guidance in action.
